A familiar Volvo returned to the Oakleaf Forestry workshop as Norman Hall of Hall Transport, Co. Longford, came back for the second phase of his timber haulage upgrade.
Phase 1 – Hall Transport arrived at Oakleaf Forestry earlier in the year for a Kesla Crane install.
Following the successful completion of Phase One, Norman’s Volvo FH Globetrotter was back with our team for the installation of a Swedish-made LIMAK Crane Hood, adding practical weather protection to the KESLA crane installed during his first visit.
Picking Up Where We Left Off
For those who missed the first stage of this project, Norman originally brought his Volvo to Oakleaf for a bespoke upgrade that included a KESLA 2210 crane, KESLA ProG40 grapple and Steelyard Peson weighing system.
During that visit, our engineering team also designed and fabricated a bespoke mounting frame for the oil cooler, bringing the various components together into a practical, well-finished installation.

Back in September for the Finishing Touches
This time around, the focus was on providing better protection for the crane operator.
The LIMAK Crane Hood offers a practical alternative to a fully enclosed crane cabin, providing shelter from wind, rain and the colder conditions that timber operators regularly face.
Manufactured in Sweden, the hood features a lightweight design, protective side panels and a foldable canopy, making it a useful addition for operators working from an exposed top seat. While the installation itself was relatively straightforward, fitting the hood required some additional adjustments to the existing setup.
Our team repositioned the Steelyard Peson weigher to accommodate the new hood, ensuring the equipment worked together within the available space.
